About the Study

Dr Dillon’s mixed methodology research design incorporates an interdisciplinary practice-led approach that integrates and blends third space professionalism with digital creative practice and marketing, communications and brand practice.

He thesis presents an extensive contextual analysis and literature review; semi-structured interviews with university-embedded marketing and communications directors; close analyses of several university marketing campaigns; and the application of creative-practice research, this study establishes the key phases, dimensions, and characteristics of ‘creative third space’.

From this work, Dr Dillon has developed a new conceptual model, including a set of operational principles and processes to enable university-sited professionals who design and produce creative content, marketing, communications, and brand practice, to successfully navigate and operate within a higher education context.
